about
Environmental Education for the Next Generation (EENG) is a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by undergraduates at the
University of California, Santa Barbara. We train and place teams of
college student volunteers into 1st and 2nd grade classrooms to lead
weekly lessons about environmental issues relevant to our
community. Our mission is to raise environmental literacy among
Santa Barbara youth and to shape leaders who will work to protect
our future. Our program features:
• Interactive activities and experiments that foster critical
thinking about the world we live in.
• Youth-to-youth mentorship and encouragement that bring education to
life and empower young people to make a positive impact on
their surroundings.
• Small group learning that promotes student participation and active engagement with the subject matter.
•Unique curriculum that aligns closely with California’s Education Standards,
serving to enhance existing classroom activities.
• Flexible Scheduling that easily fits with the diverse scheduling and curricular needs of our teachers.
We offer our weekly program any day of the week and fit lessons around teachers’ needs, creating an enriching
experience in any class setting.
Through education and companionship, we seek to change the way communities interact with the environment that surrounds them.
We believe we can create change through the youngest members of our society, from the ground up.
Only by investing in the education of our children today can we preserve this wonderful world for generations to come.
