about

EENG has developed 24 interactive lesson plans (12 first grade, 12 second grade) that closely adhere to the California State Board of Education’s Content Standards. Our program is designed for bimonthly lessons throughout the school year, but can easily be adjusted to meet the curricular and scheduling needs of teachers and administrators.

Each lesson is 45 minutes long and follows a simple outline:
• 10 minute introduction of topic & discussion
• 25 minute activity, experiment, or project
• 10 minute wrap-up, discussion, and concept review

Topics covered include:
• Species biodiversity
• Deforestation
• Climate change
• Local vs. nonlocal foods
• Endangered Species
• And many more!

We constantly review and revise our lesson books to ensure they are as effective as possible. External reviewers include UC Professors of Education, Goleta Union School District Superintendent Kathleen Boomer, Santa Barbara School District Director of Curriculum Cynthia White. EENG recently received funding from The Fund for Santa Barbara’s Youth Making Change grant, and is proud to offer our services and all necessary supplies completely free of charge.
